Introduction

Vitalism is a belief that living organisms are fundamentally different from non-living entities because they contain some non-physical element or are governed by different principles than are inanimate things. The name of the project, Vitalism, is derived from this belief and is closely related to the concept of vital signs. Vital signs, such as Heart Rate (HR), Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and Oxygen Saturation (SpO2), are important indicators of a person’s physiological and emotional wellbeing. The measurement of these vital signs is the most important step in the medical field to know the patient's current condition and is a basic task in biomedical metrology to ensure the safety of the individual..

This may involve testing applications, debugging code, and implementing quality control procedures.

The health parameters extraction is based on a remote photoplethysmography rPPG or PPG signal (using the touch of a finger on the smartphone or tablet’s rear camera for challenging environmental conditions like complete darkness).
